Giorgos Stavrakakis' Book 80+1 Poems

In his poetry, the naked glances cross with words, faces, pauses (stations?), memories and endless conversations. You are confident that you can seek for unsophisticated words and find them, since the abundance of austerity and the straightforwardness of the experience of living in the contemporary world, characterize his writing style. His lyrics are the offspring of his wanderings in places where “statues” and conventional concepts don’t fit. The naked and truthful words of his, manage to reach areas where love and every whisper of the heart trail the senses alone. They are indifferent to needs or expedience and build a universe of their own, made up of frozen moments. Moments of mine, moments of yours that we let slip by us without even understanding the way they have touched us. However, Giorgos has kept them, those fragments of our reflected world, and he hands them over to us transformed into pure word, that is, his poetry.
